Gallup Med Flight, LLC will offer the highest professional critical care fixed wing air medical transport service available to New Mexico and the surrounding states, by providing caring, compassionate, up to date, quality service and cost effectiveness.
Scope of Care
GMF is a regional, fixed wing air medical transport provider based in Gallup, New Mexico. We service the State of New Mexico and surrounding states, utilizing multiple Cessna 414A twin-engine, pressurized aircraft configured for critical care transport. GMF will provide emergency transport services to medical facilities within our service area and provide back-up support for regional facilities. The company will provide inter-facility transport on an emergent or contractual basis. Our level of care ranges from Basic Life Support to Critical Care for patients greater than 5 kilograms and more than 30 days of age, with the exception of stable newborns less than 30 days requiring Advanced Life Support, Isolette, or lower levels of care.
All emergency calls will be accepted within our clinical ability without discrimination due to race, creed, sex, color, age (except as stated above), religion, national origin, ancestry, handicap, or ability to pay.
All clients will be provided transport by a team consisting of a Physician, Registered Nurse, Registered Paramedic or Registered Respiratory Therapist trained in flight physiology, advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, neonatal resuscitation and advanced trauma life support.
Critical Care flights will have a minimum of one Registered Nurse and an appropriate second or third flight team member. Advanced Life Support flights will have a minimum of one Paramedic and an appropriate second or third flight team member.
Gallup Med Flight History
Gallup Med Flight is owned by Jim Sheppard, who has provided air ambulance service to the State of New Mexico over the last twenty five years. Mr. Sheppard is also owner and Director of Operations of Gallup Flying Service, which provides a full service Fixed Base of Operations. This includes a full maintenance facility, fueling and charter service.
In May of 1996, Gallup Med Flight was incorporated as a Limited Liability Corporation, and operates in partnership with Gallup Flying Service. Gallup Med Flight is supported by an administration comprised of knowledgeable professionals who ensure dedication to the needs and requirements of an Emergency Medical Services Air Ambulance Program.
Dr. Gerald Robertson and Dr. Hank Taliaferro provide Gallup Med Flight with twenty-four hour medical control. The flight staff works under the direction of the Medical Director, written policy and procedures, protocols and standing orders. Also, orders from the transferring or receiving physician are adhered to.
Gallup Med Flight is licensed by the New Mexico Emergency Medical Service Bureau. We have been approved for full certification in air ambulance operations in the State of New Mexico. The approval level of certification is Critical Care/Specialty Care, Certification #F00007. We earned full accreditation from The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) in 2004. We are members of the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) and NATA (National Air Transportation Association)
Base of Operations
Gallup Med Flight is based in Gallup New Mexico at the Gallup Municipal Airport. Our dispatch and flight following center provides on site, twenty four hour service.
Gallup Med Flight is strategically located to respond to the needs of the Four Corners area for emergency medical transport. We provide emergent and pre-scheduled transports of the acutely ill, injured or stabilized patient and emergent transport of the transplant patient throughout the forty-eight contiguous states.
With consideration of the rural demographics of New Mexico, it is important to evaluate the options available to you when the decision has been made to activate an air ambulance service. Gallup Med Flight is available to you for all your transport needs and will back up any transport service that is unavailable in their service area. Ultimately, it is our goal and responsibility to meet the needs of the patient, their families and the hospitals and physicians we serve.
Pilots employed by Gallup Flying Service have a minimum of two thousand flight hours. All pilots are licensed and meet the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations under Part-135 Operations to provide air ambulance services. We provide our patients with a highly professional and qualified staff of pilots that have flown in New Mexico and its rural demographics with a safety record that is unblemished.
Gallup Flying Service provides an on site full maintenance aircraft service facility. All mechanics are licensed and approved by The Federal Aviation Administration. On site maintenance facilities contribute to our safety record.
